A workshop series and publication in collaboration with two NGOs on the island of Malta – Friends of the Earth and the Integra Foundation – the Stejjer Imfewha project brought together storytelling, artistic workshops, and the experience of herbs, flowers, and spices to communicate the unique experiences of migrants on the island.
My part in the project was twofold. As the project’s writer, I compiled the stories shared by participants during the narrative workshops and shaped them into short pieces of prose and poetry. These were then paired with botanical notes on the herbs, flowers, and spices that had served as inspiration. Finally, along with the art and photographs created during the workshops, I designed the final publication for distribution to donors and supporters of Integra.
